Reasons To Go With Commercial Vinyl Flooring

If you are looking to redo the flooring in your restaurant or wherever, you may want to consider commercial vinyl flooring. In the past commercial grade vinyl flooring would have never really been used in a kitchen or high traffic area for fear of breakdown and eventual need for a replacement. While commercial vinyl flooring may have been less expensive then tile flooring, it would not have been considered because of how much more durable tile is then what was once considered to be commercial vinyl flooring.

The Commercial Vinyl Flooring Of Today

Over the last ten years or so commercial vinyl flooring has come along ways. Compared with standard residential grade vinyl flooring commercial vinyl flooring can handle a significant amount of traffic and abuse for many years. One of the big fears is that the flooring will tear or wear down has been alleviated by significant developments in the quality of the material. It is capable now of handling stresses and tolerances that flooring of only a couple years ago could not.

There are several reasons why you would want to install vinyl flooring over tile or wood. The first reason is that it is far cheaper then the tile or hardwood equivalents. This is partially because the material itself is cheaper, but secondarily because the installation is cheaper. You can get a vinyl floor installed in about half the time of either of the other two materials.

Vinyl is also far more resistant to chipping and sudden impact then either wood or tile. If you drop something on a tile floor there is very little give and either the item dropped or the floor will break. With vinyl there is a lot more give in the floor.

In addition commercial grade vinyl is a lot easier to maintain and clean then either of the other two products. There are nowhere near as many seems for dirt, grime and other things to collect in. This means that you can usually simply and easily sweep clean a vinyl surface without much effort. In addition, vinyl does not absorb things the way wood can and it will not become infested with mildew and mold.

The key is to make sure your floor is properly installed. A properly installed vinyl floor will last for a long time and stay clean for years to come. I highly recommend at least looking at one if you are considering a new floor for your business.
