What Is Vinyl Plank Flooring?

Vinyl plank flooring, or vinyl wood flooring, is the newest and most revolutionary version of vinyl flooring that can be found on the market today. Vinyl plank flooring has all the benefits of normal vinyl flooring with the look of hardwood floors. Many people have discovered how easy vinyl plank flooring is to install and maintain and have begun using it with much more frequency in the kitchens they are not only redoing but building as well.

Advantages Of Vinyl Plank Flooring Over Hardwood Floors

Let us start with the advantages you probably are already aware of when it comes to vinyl plank flooring – price and durability. If you are looking to get your floors done and have got a quote or priced out hardwood you probably are looking at a cost in the thousands of dollars. The same floor can more then likely be done with vinyl plank flooring for a cost in the hundreds of dollars. I have seen hardwood floors including installation cost anywhere from twice as much to five times as much as a similar vinyl plank floor. The reason for this is two fold. The first is the cost of the materials and the second is the cost of installation. A hardwood floor can also take a lot longer to install, although most reputable installation companies should have it done within a day easily.

When you look at vinyl plank flooring the next thing that stands out is how durable it is. This is much more true today then it was even several years ago. Vinyl is much more resistant to scratches and physical damage then wood. If you drop something on a hardwood flood it can leave a permanent dent in the wood that can ruin the overall look of your kitchen. Same thing happens on a vinyl floor and it will simply bounce back. When you drag something across a hardware floor you have to be very careful not to scratch the hardwood surface. With vinyl it is much more forgiving of this. The big fear though in the past was that the floor would tear and come up. With advances in modern glues and materials this is no longer the case. The vinyl floors of today are much more resistant to tearing and coming up with superior glue and thicker, stronger vinyl. The chance of an incident like this occurring with modern vinyl plank flooring material is virtually nil.

As you can see there are many reasons why vinyl plank flooring makes sense, but in order to truly appreciate how far this material has come you need to get down to a local dealer and take a look at some.
